Family owned manufacturer of non-metallic electrical enclosures, located in northwest Ohio is looking for a Regional Sales Manager for its western territory. POSITION SPECIFICATION - Regional Sales Manager, Industrial Products
 
Reports To:     National Sales Manager, Industrial Products
 
Position Title: Regional Sales Manager, Industrial Products
 
Purpose:         Effectively manage and supervise the efforts of all Industrial Division sales representatives within an assigned region, in order to achieve profitable, planned sales at approved expense levels.
 
Essential Functions with indication of % of performance time:
1.      Increase Industrial Division’s profitable sales of Allied products through distribution and direct accounts a minimum of 10% (net increase) at acceptable gross margins for each representative’s territory. (25%)
·         Develop an annual business plan for the territory with input from the National Sales Manager and the Marketing Department to include objectives, tactics and strategies with key measurement points in order to evaluate performance.
 
2.      Support, develop and assist the rep firms in region for the purpose of achieving individual territory growth a minimum of 10%. (25%)
·         Monitor performance of sales representatives on an ongoing basis updating through monthly reports as appropriate.
·         Make successful sales calls into the territory with advance itineraries focusing on project business achieving predetermined goals as outlined in the regional manager handbook.
                                           I.      Ensure all action items from trips are completed in a timely manner, as necessary.
·         Incorporate into territory visits, a minimum of one successful annual rep training session per territory.
·         Provide ongoing timely and accurate information flow to all rep firms, typically within 24 to 48 hours after receipt of information.
 
3.      Develop, support, and train key target accounts within each territory in addition to following up on all quotation activities to their conclusion. (15%)
·         Assist in the development of a monthly Regional Quotation Log with updates completed by the 6th of the following month.
 
4.      Provide support both at the factory and in the field for all accounts within the region. (10%)
·         Be a resource at the factory to proactively assist in the resolution of all customer “issues” following through with the appropriate Allied personnel to ensure their successful completion.
5.      Assist in the implementation and updating of all marketing strategies relative to new and existing products. (10%)
·         Monitor each rep firm’s attention to the sales lead manager to ensure timely and effective follow up.
·         Develop knowledge of Allied and its’ competitors’ products and their application.
·         Plan and participate at trade shows, seminars, distributor meetings and other training programs sometimes requiring weekend travel.
·         Submit reports as required identifying current and future trends, issues and conditions with recommendations of a plan of action needed to be competitive and/or customer sensitive pricing, product offering, tactics, strategies, and service levels.
 
6.      Provide timely and accurate information flow to the National Sales Manager. (10%)
·         Return all requested reports, forecasts, market survey assignments, etc. accurately, completely, and by the date requested.
 
7.      Train, mentor and lead by example to build constructive relationships by taking the initiative to make things better. (3%)
 
8.      Other related duties as assigned. (2%)
 
 
Mental/Visual requirements:
  • Part-time normal and part-time concentrated attention and coordination required to review documentation for sound sales and marketing practices and use of technical tools. 
  • Ability to communicate information to others.
 
Physical demands:
  • Light physical lifting required to move training equipment and boxes in performing normal job duties.
 
Education/Experience:
  • Minimum two years post high school education in a related business or technical field with a minimum of five years practical experience in the sales or a total equivalent work experience of eight years minimum. 
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft office software, including excel, word and PowerPoint. Proficient abilities with electronic communication tools skills are required, including email, voice mail, cell phone and fax.
